Optimization of a method for preparing solid complexes of essential clove oil with beta-cyclodextrins

Essential CO was successfully solubilized in aqueous solution by forming inclusion complexes with beta-cyclodextrins (beta-CDs). Moreover, phase solubility studies demonstrated that essential CO also forms insoluble complexes with beta-CDs. Based on these results, essential CO-beta-CD solid complexes were prepared by the novel approach of microwave irradiation (MWI) followed by three different drying methods: vacuum oven drying (VO), freeze drying (FD) or spray drying (SD). Quantification of the solid complexes formed pointed to the not involving heat, FD, as the best drying method, followed by VO and SD, which led to significantly lower amounts of encapsulated essential CO.Ciencias de la Alimentació

Social History and Cultural History of Women: elements for debate

Este artículo hace una reflexión teórica sobre las categorías de análisis y los criterios de investigación que han primado en las últimas décadas en las investigaciones sobre la historia de las mujeres. Se señala en primer lugar la trayectoria del uso del término género y se detiene en el de la identidad para criticar la utilización del mismo resaltando como, si bien en un principio y, sobre todo, en relación a temas de creación artística, tuvo una gran utilidad, el uso abusivo del mismo y la generalización de su manejo puede resultar ineficaz. Por último plantea la dicotomía entre la historia cultural y la historia social, decantándose por la segunda como corriente capaz de retomar la visión generalista y reivindicativa del feminismoThis article reflects upon categories of analysis and research criteria used by studies into the History of Women in recent decades. First, the focus falls on the evolution of the use of the term ‘gender’ before similarly reflecting on the use of term ‘identity’, criticising its use. In so doing, the article highlights that; although in principle, and above all in relation to topics of artistic creation, it use was of great utility; the abusive use of the term and the generalisation of its employment may be ineffective. Finally, the article also deals with the dichotomy between Cultural and Social History, suggesting that Social History is a trend capable of defeating the generalistic and vindictive vision of Feminis

La extracción de conocimiento y terminología a partir de corpus ad hoc : el uso de documentos digitales de la web pública

Electronic communication accelerates the exchange of knowledge and information in areas of specialized knowledge. This state of affairs forces anyone involved in such communication (e.g. technical writers, technical translators) to remain up to date with new developments. Not only do professionals belonging to this group of people have to master the standard terminology of each specialized domain, they must also assimilate and understand the subject matter within which they are working. This article proposes a method for assembling and using specific corpora with a view to extracting from them systematic and bilingual knowledge relating to terminology, the conceptual relations between terms, and the knowledge that they represent. Special attention is devoted to the strategies that will enable professionals to use such corpora in English and in Spanish

És la web pública la nova biblioteca del traductor?

La World Wide Web se ha convertido en una de las fuentes de información más utilizadas por los traductores. Sin embargo, la información de la WWW puede presentar ciertas carencia en lo que a la calidad se refiere que el traductor debe tener en cuenta. Por este motivo, y dado que la información ya se encuentra en formato digital, las herramientas de análisis de corpus se convierten en un instrumento de gran utilidad en la obtención de información lingüística y factual para la realización de una traducción, y en concreto de la traducción especializada.La World Wide Web s'ha convertit en una de les fonts d'informació més utilitzades pels traductors. La adaptación de los planes de estudio de Periodismo al EEES. Propuesta metodológica aplicada a la Universidad de Valladolid.

The article analyzes the changing curricula of Journalism with adaptation to the European Higher Education Area. We present a methodological proposal with a comparative analysis between the subjects of Bachelor Degree and the new Degree applied to the University of Valladolid in four areas: thematic, theoretical and practical, material type and relationship continuity. The results show that the new graduate Degree renews a quarter from the Bachelor, increases more specialized subjects, the practical and mandatory in detriment of theoretical, humanistic and cross curricular.El artículo analiza el cambio de los planes de estudio de Periodismo con la adaptación al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior. Se presenta una propuesta metodológica con un análisis comparado entre las asignaturas de la Licenciatura y el Grado aplicado a la Universidad de Valladolid en cuatro áreas: eje temático, carácter teórico-práctico, tipo de materia y relación de continuidad. Los resultados evidencian que el nuevo título de Grado renueva su oferta programática en una cuarta parte, incrementa las asignaturas especializadas, prácticas y obligatorias, en detrimento de las teóricas, humanísticas y transversales
